English First Peoples Writing 10

EFP Writing 10 is tailored for students with an interest in diverse writing purposes and contexts. This elective offers students a chance to enhance their writing proficiency by delving into personal and cultural identities, memories, narratives and ties to land and place. Fostering a supportive environment, students will engage both individually and collaboratively to cultivate their writing abilities, producing coherent, purposeful and compelling compositions. This course is rooted in the exploration and utilization of writing processes, encouraging students to express themselves as they experiment with, reflect on, expand and polish their writing skills.

English First Peoples Literary Studies 10

EFP Literary Studies 10 is crafted for students intrigued by the exploration of First Peoples literature across diverse contexts, genres and mediums. This elective offers students avenues to delve into personal and cultural identities, histories, narratives and the relationship to land and place. This course is anchored in the comprehension of how texts are constructed within historical and cultural contexts. Through both individual and collaborative efforts, students will expand their awareness of both themselves and the broader world.

Foundation of Mathematics & Pre-Calculus10

The Foundations of Mathematics and Pre-Calculus 10 course will have students explore essential mathematical topics, including algebra, geometry and pre-calculus. The curriculum is structured to align with provincial standards in mathematics education, ensuring students develop strong mathematical skills and a deep understanding of the subject matter. Throughout the course, students will engage in applying mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios. This course seeks to provide students with a well-rounded and meaningful learning experience, promoting academic excellence.

Science 10

Science 10 combines the fundamental principles of science, offering students a unique opportunity to explore the wonders of the natural world. Aligned with the British Columbia curriculum standards for Science 10, this course integrates scientific inquiry, exploration and critical thinking. Students will delve into essential scientific principles, including biology, chemistry, physics and earth science. Students will apply scientific knowledge to real-world scenarios, considering the impact of scientific advancements on individuals, communities and the environment. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking skills and scientific inquiry. Students will engage in hands-on experiments, research projects and discussions that encourage them to question, explore and analyze scientific phenomena.

Social Studies 10

Social Studies 10 is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of historical, geographical, political, economic and societal issues on the topic of Canada and the World from 1914 to the present. This course is structured to encourage critical thinking, research skills and civic engagement. It aims to foster an appreciation for diverse perspectives and the interconnectedness of global issues.

Physical and Health Education 10

Physical Education 10 is designed to promote the holistic development of students through physical activity, fitness education and the cultivation of lifelong healthy habits. This course aims to enhance students' physical literacy, emphasizing a balance between active living, skill development and an understanding of the importance of physical well-being. This course includes activities that promote active living, cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, flexibility and endurance. Students may engage in a variety of physical exercises and fitness routines. This course incorporates health education components, addressing topics such as nutrition, mental health, substance abuse prevention and the overall well-being of individuals.

Career Life Education 10

Career Life Education 10 is designed to empower students to make informed decisions about their educational and career pathways. This course aims to foster career readiness, personal development and an understanding of the diverse opportunities available to students in the future. Students engage in activities that help them explore various careers and industries. Students learn about different professions, required skills, educational pathways and the current job market. This course emphasizes the importance of goal setting and helps students identify their interests, values and aspirations. Further, topics such as workplace skills, financial literacy, career planning and personal development will be covered.

Entrepreneurship and Marketing 10

Entrepreneurship and Marketing 10 introduces students to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and marketing concepts. This course aims to develop students' understanding of business principles, marketing strategies and the skills needed to become effective entrepreneurs. Topics, such as marketing fundamentals, business planning, financial literacy, communication and presentation skills, ethics and social responsibility and hands-on projects will be covered.
